TALENTED young performers from a Newton Aycliffe dance school have waltzed their way to a clutch of awards in a national contest.
Youngsters from the Lee Green Dance School stole the show at one of the biggest events on the competitive calendar - The National Disco Freestyle Dancing Competition at Scarborough Grand Hall, North Yorkshire.
Among the top prizes secured were a group trophy in the nine years and under category - won by the school's Wildcats team - and the medalist of the year title went to nine-year-old Annis Jamie Race, who followed the talented footsteps of her mother, Caroline Race, who is the group's choreographer and teacher.
Winners were: rosettes for six to eight-year-olds, Chloe Farley, Megan Cross; star dance solo for six to nine-year-olds, Zara Heathwaite, Rhiannon Fowles, Celine Hetherington; under-13 grades, Danielle Flety, Danielle Kerr; pairs nine years old and under, Annis Jamie Race and Celine Hetherington, Chloe Fairley and Rhiannon Fowles; team dance for nine years old and under, Wildcats team - Annis Jamie Race, Chloe Farley, Rhiannon Fowles, Daniella Winwood, Celine Hetherington, Megan Cross, Zara Heathwaite, Emily Kavanagh, Georgia Heads, Georgia Wakefield, Kalya Shaw, Hayley Archer, Lauren Archer.
Teacher Caroline said: "I was very proud of the class for their results. They all worked very hard."
