THIRTY firefighters were called to tackle a fire at a golf club yesterday.
The blaze was discovered by the secretary of Bedale Golf Club, in Leyburn Road, Bedale, North Yorkshire, at about 8.45am.
Firefighters arrived at the club to find smoke coming from the roof.
Club chairman Craig Harrison said: "It was quite worrying initially, but there was not too much damage.
"There was smoke coming out of the boiler and it went up through the wall and out of the top.
"The fire brigade came really quickly and were on the ball."
Mr Harrison said the club opened as usual yesterday despite the fire.
Crews from Northallerton, Bedale, Masham, Colburn and Harrogate attended the inci-dent.
The cause, which was still being investigated by officers yesterday, is not thought to be suspicious.
