A biker was killed and his pillion passenger left fighting for life after a crash as they tried to flee police.
Officers in a patrol car tried to pull over the powerful motorbike but the rider refused to stop and hit a parked car.
James Johnson, 19, was killed and his 16-year-old passenger was critically injured in the crash on the A695 in Mickley, near Prudhoe, Northumberland, outside Mickley Club.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "A motorbike with two people on board failed to stop when required to do so by officers.
"Shortly afterwards, they collided with a parked car. It has yet to be established whether the police car was following.
"One of the people on the motorbike was killed and the other was taken to Newcastle General Hospital, where he is in a critical condition."
The incident is being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
