LOVE is in the air, or soon will be, in Middlesbrough, a university hopes.
Efforts are being made to help single students at the University of Teesside find love this Valentine's Day.
The university's Students' Union (SU) is organising a Cupid's Arrow speed-dating event. Those looking for love will meet each other for three minutes at a time in the SU's building.
Rachel Shakespeare, the union's societies and recreation officer, said: "I'd be thrilled if we helped a few of our members find love on Valentine's Day but, as with everything we do, it's mainly about ensuring they have a good time and really feel involved in their Students' Union."
The speed dating is one of a number of events in the SU's Give it a Go programme. Other activities in the academic year include ice skating, cocktail making, rowing, archery, snow sports and moors walking.
Ms Shakespeare said: "We recognise that the role of a modern Students' Union is to enhance the student experience wherever we can. We also want to be as inclusive as possible, which is why we run the Give it a Go programme, to accommodate students of all ages and backgrounds.''
