A HEALTH trust has won an award for the way in which it treats its staff.
Darlington Primary Care Trust (PCT) was awarded the BBC's Big Challenge award for the most improved employer for workplace health.
The Big Challenge award is part of a national drive to improve the health of the nation by promoting healthy lifestyles.
Radio Cleveland presenter Neil Green staged his afternoon show from the PCT's walk-in centre at Dr Piper House, and staff were presented with the accolade.
Ruth Brown, the PCT's Working Well project co-ordinator, said that everyone was very pleased to receive the award.
She said: "There are practical ways to improve health, such as lunchtime walks, staff bikes and stepometers, which have gone down really well.
"It's also a nice working environment for staff."
