A CHRISTIAN group is urging anyone struggling to cope with post-Christmas debt to get in touch.

National charity Christians Against Poverty and the Emmanuel Church operate a debt- counselling centre in Framwellgate Moor, Durham City.

The centre, established three years ago, offers comprehensive money advice to anyone struggling with money problems.

Centre manager Janet Adams said there had been a steady stream of people going through its doors and it was only too aware of the problems caused by debt in the local community.

She said: "Debt can happen to anyone of us, it is no respecter of what you earn or who you are and its effects can be devastating ill health, immense worry, despair and hopelessness."

Anyone requiring more details on services offered by the centre can contact 0191-375 0148.
