MORE than 300 people were entertained at a Darlington college rhythm and blues evening.

King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys took to the stage at Carmel College, with some of the most authentic Rhythm and Blues to come from outside the US.

The concert, which included music from the 1940s and 1950s, was described by Simon Hannaford, head of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), as a "fantastic evening".

The King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys concert raised £3,500 towards the £20,000 needed to buy a new minibus for the college.

Future events include a St Patrick's night ceilidh, Nine Below Zero on April 1, the Paul Jones Blues Band on May 6, The Hamsters on May 13 and Wishbone Ash in the autumn.
