TWO projects are the latest to benefit from recycling schemes which turn rubbish into charity cash.
Premier Waste Management, which handles kerbside collections of cans, bottles and paper in east Durham, gives £1 for every tonne of waste collected to charities chosen by Easington District Council.
The two latest good causes to benefit from the county-wide scheme are Hartlepool and East Durham Alzheimer's Trust and St Andrew's Church Hall, Blackhall, which have both been awarded £500.
The money donated to the Alzheimer's trust will be used to support the charity's Blackhall Day Centre, which provides care for up to 60 people, five days a week.
