Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a woman was discovered in Darlington.
Officers were called to an address in Red Hall last night where they found the body of the 43-year-old victim.
A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being held by police.
A police spokesman said no more details of the victim were being released until relatives have been informed.
