MOTOCROSS champion Brad Anderson opened a housing development in his home town, and made one of the biggest buys of his life at the same time.

The 24-year-old British Four Stroke motocross champion bought one of the first houses at Valley Rise, on the site of Tow Law's old auction mart, for himself and his girlfriend Hayley Metcalf, 22.

Work to clear the site is well under way and construction should start in the next few weeks.

Developers McInerney Homes are building 63 two and three-bedroom semi-detached houses, as well and three and four bedroom detached homes and town houses. Prices should start from £110,500.

Margaret Eadsforth, the company's sales manager, said: "We have had lots of interest in the new site.

"The site is well located and perfect for families so we are anticipating a lot of interest from local people."
