TALKS could be held to prevent the axing of evening bus services in North Yorkshire.
Councillors in Pickering have called for a meeting with North Yorkshire County Council, the National Park and Yorkshire Coastliner bus service to promote services in Ryedale.
The move comes after it was revealed there are moves to cut subsidised services, which could result in late services being axed in country areas.
Pickering town clerk Andrew Husband said: "The council was handicapped by a lack of information. It was not easy to respond to the consultation report because no passenger figures have been supplied, nor information about the people using the services.
"We are aware of the need to tackle social inclusion in rural areas and concern over poor public transport provision. Those who do not own a car are becoming increasingly isolated and disadvantaged."
