A DRUG dealer who tried to flush heroin down the toilet during a police raid on his home was jailed yesterday.
Stephen Trotter pleaded guilty to possessing heroin with a street value of £600 and was sent to prison for a month by Harrogate magistrates.
Mark Haigh, prosecuting, said police armed with a drugs warrant went to 34-year-old Trotter's cottage in High Street, Knaresborough, while he and his brother were there.
They heard the toilet being flushed and discovered 6.85 grams of heroin in the bowl.
In mitigation, Geoffrey Rogers said Trotter, who had been jailed earlier for supplying heroin to undercover police officers, had gone to Bradford just before the police raid and bought the heroin for £180.
''He got home, used some and then there was a knock on the door," said Mr Rogers. "He went upstairs and tried to dispose of the drug, but it didn't flush away.''
