Police have launched a murder-style enquiry after a woman's body was found at a house.
The woman, believed to be in her forties was found at a house in Pity Me, County Durham.
A man, also believed to be in his forties, was arrested at the scene.
Police are investigating but were unable to confirm if the incident is being treated as murder.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: "We have launched a murder-style enquiry after a woman's body was found in Rylands Way, a small private housing estate north of Durham City.
"The body of a woman was found. A man has been arrested at the scene and enquiries are just beginning to get underway to establish what happened."
