YOUNG maestros have achieved success in an exam normally taken by older students.
The three schoolgirls - Sarah Reeder, 17, from Darlington, Sarah Morgan, 16, from Kirklevington and Kathryn Ellenger, 15, from Egglescliffe are all pupils at Teesside High School in Eaglescliffe.
They have all obtained the Guildhall School of Music Jazz Performance Diploma, which is a post grade 8 qualification involving a 35-minute public performance.
The girls prepared a selection of five pieces ranging from jazz standards such as Round Midnight and Freight Train to more modern pieces including some composed by their teacher. The qualification is designed to give candidates valuable performing experience and to receive professional advice about performance skills.
