A training course is to start next week for volunteers who want to become tutors at a learning centre for adults.
The volunteers will be able to gain a City and Guilds Level 2 certificate for adult learner support at the Leap Skills for Life Centre, in Barnard Castle.
The course will run on Mondays from 9.30am to noon and continue for several weeks. Many past volunteers have gained qualifications and progressed to regular paid work.
The course includes practical skills and some written assignments. Leap provides help and support for adults who have difficulty with reading, writing and basic maths. For details, contact Bev Ward or Kath Salter at the centre at 23 Market Place, Barnard Castle, or call (01833) 690281.
