PEOPLE from the Parkfield and Mill Lane areas of Stockton are being urged to take part in a campaign aimed at raising their pride in the local area.
The Pride in Parkfield Mill Lane campaign will run throughout the year, with a launch event taking place later this month.
Organisers hope to encourage people from across the area to attend the launch.
It will consist of a number of guest speakers, including residents from Salford, Manchester, who will talk about the successful In Bloom project they ran last year, and its impact across the community.
There will also be workshops throughout the day with representatives from Stockton Residents and Community Groups Association, the Corner House Youth Project, the fire brigade, and the council taking part.
It is hoped that residents will share ideas and take advice about running their own projects.
Council workers and children from the Grove Street area of Parkfield and Mill Lane have already been involved in shrub planting there.
Denise Newbery, from Friends of Parkfield Mill Lane, said: "The aim of the project is to get Parkfield and Mill Lane back to looking how it should.
"We hope that residents who have seen how the area has developed and improved over the past year will get involved with projects and come up with their own ideas to brighten up the neighbourhood so that it's a place we can be proud to live."
Pride in Parkfield Mill Lane is a free event taking place at ARC in Stockton on Saturday, between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
The event includes lunch and places can be booked by calling (01642) 528337.
