Stokesley SC romped into the semi finals of the North Riding County Cup, but New Marske and Teesside Athletic failed to join them.
There was no stopping Stokesley though and the goals rained in against Guisborough Black Swan. A Ben Walker hat-trick, James Alsop, Ian Fairlam, Jonathan Newton and Craig Johnson all struck before Richard Woodhouse and Robert Anderson claimed late consolation goals.
Goals were scarce in the other two quarter-final ties - Teesside Athletic went out at Carlin How through an Ian Mudd own-goal, while New Marske also lost 1-0 to Thornaby YC for whom Danny Jones scored after 53 minutes.
In the league Cleadon SC extended their lead at the top to four points but they had their work cut out before seeing off a strong challenge from Willington through a Derek Newton penalty.
Birtley Town dropped back to third after a weakened side could only draw at Cleator Moor Celtic. Craig Padley put the Cumbrians in front on the hour but Tony Thirkell levelled soon after.
Despite scoring first through debutant Jonathan French, Wolviston lost 4-1 to Windscale at Metcalfe Park. The result turned on a ten-minute spell just before the interval when the visitors scored three times courtesy of Joe Shepherd (2) and Lee Dixon. Peter O'Donnell added a fourth during the second half.
Jarrow just had the edge on Nissan SSC Sunderland winning 2-1. Gateshead Low Fell are now bottom after they could only draw 1-1 with Annfield Plain who went in front on 65 minutes through substitute Alan Coxon. Daryl Martin equalised seven minutes later with a penalty.
Boldon CA drew 1-1 with Harton and Westoe, Ryhope CW lost 5-2 at home to Whitehaven.
Ferryhill Athletic also celebrated when they vacated bottom position which they had occupied for several weeks with a 3-1 victory over Coxhoe Athletic, who scored first through Paul Broom. Alan Robson and Jonathan Agar (2) found the net in the second period as Ferryhill won for only the second time.
