A NUMBER of community projects proposed for Wear Valley this year have gone before the council.
Groundwork West Durham has put forward several schemes to continue its regeneration role within the district, and councillors gave initial approval for them to be developed further.
Projects including improvements to the former play area at Challener Way in St Helen Auckland, a regeneration of North Bitchburn Allotment and cricket field were put forward.
There are also plans for improvements to Coundon and Leeholme shop fronts, Wolsingham Eastend Riverside and Roddymoor Recreation Ground.
Oliver Graham, of Groundwork West Durham, said: "They are part of an ongoing project that we deliver. We talk with community groups and deliver services that people want.
"Some of them are not new projects, they are ones we have done quite a lot of work on already."
