THE postcard archives of a North-East cobbler, who bequeathed his cottage to a council, have helped create a DVD.
A Glimpse of History in Marske-by-the-Sea has been produced by Marske man George Lambelle, who has used the postcard collection to help bring to life the town's past.
All proceeds from the film are being donated to the upkeep of east Cleveland's newest museum, Winkies Castle.
The tiny cottage in Marske High Street was left to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by cobbler Jack Anderson.
Mr Anderson was well-known in the town for his tendency to hoard things.
After his death in 2001, community members gathered to form a working group, Friends of Winkies Castle.
It took two years to restore the home, before a community folk museum was formed.
The cottage now has four interpretative rooms, as well as a pantry and a wash-house.
An added boost to the museum is the mass of photographs of Marske, which date back to the 19th Century.
Volunteer Joan Russell said: "George Lambelle put the photos and postcards on the computer and added up-to-date filming and commentary all about how Marske started. The money will go towards the upkeep of the museum - we still have a lot of work to do."
Copies of the DVD are £12.50 from Ms Russell on (01642) 775086 or 473020.
