PEOPLE have been expressing through art what it is like to live next door to industry.
Alison Bullock, occupational therapist, based at Newlands community mental health resource centre, Redcar, said: "Artwork is a popular way for many people to express their feelings. It can also help people feel competent, skilled and confident.''
The exhibition at Wilton International featured 22 pieces of artwork, including watercolours, oils, poster paintings and digital photography.
Each exhibit portrayed how the artist felt about industry on their doorstep. The artists, who have a range of mental health problems, use the services of Tees and North East Yorkshire NHS Trust.
Ms Bullock said: "Working together with Wilton International has provided a great way of involving local people with local industry."
The entries were judged by visitors to the exhibition. Felix O'Hare, representing the main site companies, presented the prizes to the winners.
He said: "The standard of all the work was exceptionally high and it was interesting to see the different interpretations."
