A DURHAM school was celebrating its academic success yesterday after it again topped the secondary school league table in the county.
The Indpendent Durham High School for Girls achieved a 100 per cent pass rate for five A* star to C grade GCSE passes.
Headteacher Ann Templeman said last night: "We are absolutely thrilled that we have consistently topped the county league table, and this year it was by a greater margin than ever before.
"This is due first and foremost to the hard work of the girls, but also to the outstanding commitment and professional expertise of the staff and the whole-hearted support of the girls' parents.''
Second in the Durham league table was Barnard Castle School, which recorded an 85 per cent pass rate.
