SCHOOL choirs helped to raise money for a local hospice by entertaining Christmas shoppers.
A dozen Darlington schools sent pupils to sing carols in the Queen Street Shopping Centre during the festive period.
Centre staff also ran a gift-wrapping service in exchange for a donation.
Their combined efforts raised a total of £2,689 for St Teresa's Hospice.
Hospice director Jane Bradshaw said: "I would like to thank the shopping centre staff and the local schools for all their hard work in raising money for St Teresa's Hospice.
"Everyone is extremely grateful for the continued support."
Denise Jeffery, Queen Street Shopping Centre manager, said: "The people of Darlington were exceptionally generous, with many individuals making separate donations to both the carol singers and the gift-wrapping service."
