A COUNCIL'S arts development team is to launch a pilot project to take people to arts venues.
If successful, Chester-le-Street District Council's Access Arts initiative to get people to theatres and galleries will be developed into seasonal visits.
The first initiative will be a free coach to take people to a performance by the Rambert Dance Company at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle, on Wednesday February 15.
The modern dance company, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, is presenting a programme of four diverse works selected for Theatre Royal audiences.
A council spokesman said: "Rambert will be accompanied by their associate orchestra, London Musici. This is a great opportunity to witness a performance from one of the world's most versatile and exciting dance companies."
Free return transport will depart from the Civic Centre, Chester-le-Street, at 6.30pm, for a 7.30pm start. Places on the coach must be reserved by contacting Sally Dixon, arts activities assistant, on 0191-389 5090, before January 31.
Tickets for the performance can be arranged through the Theatre Royal on 0870 905 5060. Ticket prices range from £10 to £20.
