THE stage version of the hit film East is East will be performed in the North-East next month.
Durham's Gala Theatre stages the play which inspired the film, from Tuesday to Saturday, February 7 to 11, with performances at 7.30pm and a Wednesday matinee, at 2pm.
The award-winning comedy, following the lives of George Khan, his British wife, Ella, and their six children, became a West End success before the film version was produced in 1999.
Set in Salford, in the Manchester area, in 1970, it focuses on the struggle of the Khan children trying to establish their lives against mixed cultural backgrounds.
It is being performed by the Pilot Theatre Company, from York, and began its national tour in the city.
Tickets, costing £10, £12 and £15, are available from the Gala box office on 0191-332 4041.
Theatregoers are warned the play contains some strong language.
