RESIDENTS can take advantage of a deal to help the environment.
Stockton Council is working in partnership with the Waste and Resources Action Programme to supply cheap compost bins.
For only £4 or £6, residents can buy a bin and have it delivered free.
Officials said composting was easy and that much of what people throw into their household bins, such as vegetable peelings, can be transformed into compost and reused as fertiliser for their gardens.
Councillor Steve Nelson said: "Composting is an easy way to help the environment and save money.
"Home compost helps to improve soil quality and costs next to nothing to get started."
