plans to build a new primary school could get the go-ahead next week, despite objections from villagers.
Planners at North Yorkshire County Council have said the scheme, for Sutton under Whitestonecliffe, near Thirsk, should be granted permission.
Under the proposals, a new school would be built in Low Lane to replace the existing school, which occupies a cramped site next to the village hall. Governors say the school will have to close if it is not allowed to move.
Outline permission for the site was granted last year and on Tuesday, the council's planning committee will decide whether to approve full planning permission.
Eighteen letters of objection have been sent, on issues ranging from highway safety and access to flood risks.
But the council's director of environmental services, Mike Moore, has recommended that permission should be granted, subject to a number of conditions. These include traffic calming, a footbridge over Sutton Beck and a minibus service.
