MARTIN Scott has warned there may be no quick fix in the coming weeks.
Scott's Hartlepool United side have been dragged to the lower reaches of League One after just two wins in 12 games.
And, while the returns from long-term knee injuries of Adam Boyd and Joel Porter is edging nearer, they won't be rushed into action.
Pool have suffered for the loss of last season's prolific pairing - they bagged almost 50 goals between them last season.
They have netted just four times in the six games since they last won, at home to Bournemouth on December 10.
Luton have made a bid for Boyd, which Pool have rejected, and Scott, who watched Sheffield Wednesday's reserve side draw 1-1 with Rotherham on Wednesday, is keen to see his injured players return in the coming weeks.
"It will be great to see them back - Boydy, James Brown and Matty Robson, who was back last week, and Mark Tinkler,'' he said.
"We are all looking forward to every single one of those injured players returning.
"But we can't look at it and sit and wait for them to return and think it will all be a bed of roses when they are back.
"They might take little niggles and little setbacks. These things happen when you are returning from long-term injuries and, at the moment, we have to do it with what we have got in this dressing room.''
With Blackpool's victory over Oldham on Tuesday reducing the gap between Pool and the bottom four to just three points, Scott's side is being dragged into a battle between now and the end of the season.
He said: "We've all got to raise our game and we need more from each player.
"We've got to regroup and work hard in the 19 remaining games.
"We've got great character in the squad. It's been tested at times this season and it's going to be tested again now."
* Ex-Pool defender Graeme Lee, linked with a return to Victoria Park, has moved from Sheffield Wednesday to Doncaster for £50,000.
* Nottingham Forest boss Gary Megson has further strengthened his squad with the capture of Rochdale striker Grant Holt.
The 24-year-old has been in prolific form for Dale this season with 15 goals and he has signed a three-and-a-half year contract at The City Ground.
Holt has signed for £300,000 and becomes the second player to sign for Forest this week after Julian Bennett.
He is set to make his debut at home to Oldham in League One on Saturday.
In total, Holt scored 43 times in 83 games for Dale following his arrival from Sheffield Wednesday in January, 2004.
