WORLD cruiserweight boxing champion Johnny Nelson is to be the guest speaker at a boxing event in Consett.
It has been organised by Gary McCrory to raise funds for the Booker Amateur Boxing Club, where he coaches.
The evening at Consett Civic Centre includes a five-course meal with entertainment from comedian Micky Gunn.
There will also be up to eight bouts of amateur boxing by members of the Catchgate-based club.
A range of celebrity faces from the sporting world, including boxers, Newcastle United and Newcastle Falcons players are expected to attend.
Mr McCrory said: "This is an evening to raise money to put back into the club for the lads.
"Consett does get some superstars, and this is the opportunity for Joe Public to come along and join them."
The charity sports night is on January 25. Those attending are asked to arrive by 7pm, with the dinner at 7.30pm.
Tickets are still available and cost £40. To book, call Mr McCrory on 0796 735 1938.
