A WOMAN is considering to take her battle against a parking fine to court after she was given a ticket by police while reporting a crime.
Leanne Hennessey, from Bedale, North Yorkshire, was with her partner in Northallerton on December 1 when they were threatened by a group of youths.
Miss Hennessey, who was heavily pregnant at the time, went to the town's police station to report the incident, but forgot to display a parking disc.
When she came out of the police station, she had a £30 fixed penalty notice on the car.
Her family have complained to the police and explained that she was in the police station at the time, but they have been told they have to pay the fine.
Her father, David, said: "It is unbelievable.
"She was really scared so she jumped in the car and went straight round to the police station.
"It wasn't as if there was a fee and she hadn't paid, she just forgot to put a disc in."
He said the family were thinking of disputing the ticket in court.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "If people want to contest parking tickets, they are quite within their rights to do so and can go to court to put their argument."
