AGRICULTURAL and food group Carr's has grown by about 20 per cent in the past year and is on course for more growth this year, its chairman said.
The group, which has sites in Askrigg, North Yorkshire and Barnard Castle, County Durham, said Carr's remained on track for another year of underlying profit growth, despite "mixed" trading.
Chairman Lord Inglewood told yesterday's annual meeting: "This is my first AGM as chairman of the company and it is a pleasure to be able to report on a successful year.
"Carr's remains on track for a further year of underlying profit growth, despite mixed trading."
He said parts of the agricultural business and flour business were trading ahead of budget.
He said: "Despite the difficulties in UK agriculture, the board remains confident of continuing progress for the year, given the strong performances by the US, food and engineering businesses."
