FOUR Darlington companies have joined forces to help with the launch of a legal service this week.
The town's citizens' advice bureau (CAB) is offering a one-stop shop every Wednesday, from 5pm to 6pm, with solicitors available to offer free advice to residents.
A duty solicitor will be provided by Latimer Hinks, Hodgsons and Mortimer, Hewitts and Clark Willis.
Clients ineligible for legal aid from the bureau's own specialists can be referred to the solicitor for advice at Bennet House, in Horsemarket.
David Brown, of Latimer Hinks, said: "I am pleased that there is sufficient support from the local legal profession to assist CAB in extending their very essential services, which help so many people."
Sue Stahl, advice services manager at the CAB, said: "This has been a goal of mine since being appointed to my present position at the beginning of last year.
"I feel that the bureau has improved its links with the local business community in general recently, and this new initiative is proof of this."
