POLICE are appealing for help to trace a witness they believe could help with an inquiry into an assault that happened more than a month ago.
Officers investigating the late-night assault of a teenager in November say they urgently want to speak to a man who broke up the brawl.
The 15-year-old victim, from Bishop Auckland, was walking past The Bridge Inn, between Ramshaw and Evenwood, at 10.40pm on Saturday, November 26.
As he passed a gang of youths he was pushed into a doorway and assaulted, suffering a black eye and cuts and bruises to his face.
When police attended they spoke to a man who helped identify one of the alleged culprits and said he had intervened. Although officers took his details it appears they were incorrectly recorded.
The witness is asked to call PC John Harland on 0845 60 60 365.
