A policeman appeared in court today accused of using insider knowledge to raid cash machines.
Jason Singh, 22, is accused of being part of a gang behind planned raids on ATMs in Dunston and Gateshead.
It is claimed the South Shields officer may have used information gained during police training to carry out the scam.
Singh appeared at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday along with his brother Craig Singh, 19, of Ryde Terrace, Mark McDonald, 25, of Chelsea Gardens and Shane Faife, 24, of Curzon Street, all Dunston.
The four are all charged with conspiracy to steal.
No pleas were taken during the short hearing yesterday and the case was adjourned for further hearing on March 21.
A provisional trial date was set for June 12.
All were granted conditional bail until the next appearance.
