A CHARITY for adults with learning disabilities has submitted a planning application for its new £400,000 headquarters.
The plan for the workshop, office and store for the Chopsticks charity, based in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, has been recommended for approval by Hambleton District Council.
Chopsticks provides work-based activities for adults with learning disabilities.
Its members turn scrap timber into kindling, which is then sorted and packed.
The charity is based in rented premises in Northallerton High Street and Springwell Lane, and the new headquarters would be on the industrial estate in Thurston Road.
The building would have a floor area of 650sq metres and would have parking for nine cars.
No objections to the application have been received by the council. In a report to councillors, planning officer Helen Laws said: "The proposed development is of a siting and design in keeping with the character and appearance of the locality."
A decision will be made on Thursday.
