POLICE are hunting a group of men who forced a taxi driver out of his vehicle and stole it.
Six men were picked up in J and P Taxi office, in Lord Street, Redcar, east Cleveland, and asked to be taken to Hemlington, Middlesbrough.
As they drove along Kirkleatham Lane, one of the men threatened the driver and made him get out of the Vauxhall Zafira. The taxi was later found abandoned in a field off Wilton Lane.
All the males are aged between 18 and 30, white and believed to speak with a local accent.
The man who threatened the driver is described as about 30, 5ft 8in, and stocky. He was wearing a white shirt.
The incident happened at about 4.30am on New Year's Day.
Witnesses are asked to call Redcar police on (01642) 302626.
