A Teesside school has welcomed a new headteacher.
Thomas Packer has taken over as headmaster at Teesside Prep & High School in Eaglescliffe, Stockton, following the departure of Hilary French, who has moved to a school in Newcastle.
Mr Packer, a former Durham University student of physics and mathematics, was formerly headteacher at Stover School in Devon.
He is a member of the Mathematics in Education and Industry Project and involved in developing the A-Level mathematics syllabus.
He said: "It's a new year and a new beginning.
"I am delighted to be taking over the reins at a very successful school and I'm looking forward to meeting parents over the next week."
