MEMBERS of Bishop Auckland Golf Club have raised £3,032 for a hospital unit treating cancer victims.
The money was collected for the Mara Unit, at Bishop Auckland General Hospital, during Ian Graham's year as captain.
He presided over a range of events, including raffles and a captain's charity day.
Mr Graham visited the unit to present a cheque to Dr Mohsen Mahmoud and Sister Lynn Elliott.
The money will be spent on furniture and other items to make the unit more comfortable for patients.
Mr Graham said: "With the recent improvements made at Bishop Auckland Hospital, many local people are now able to have chemotherapy and blood transfusions in their local hospital rather than travelling much further to Newcastle."
