CHILDREN from a local primary school will be getting their hands dirty later this month when they plant trees around a neighbourhood park.
Children from Parkside Infants School, in Seaham, will help to plant the saplings in Parkside Neighbourhood Park on Wednesday, January 25, to mark National Tree Week.
Mayor of Seaham, Councillor Edward Bell, will be joined by members of Peterlee and District Round Table, staff from Seaham Town Council and staff and pupils from the school for the event.
Mike Preston, parks manager for the town council, said: "We are pleased to be working in partnership with these local organisations and pupils and teachers of Parkside Infant School to help improve Seaham's environment.
"We look forward to working with the organisations and local schools in other similar environmental projects in the future."
