A PLAN to build 25 houses in Derwentside is expected to be approved by councillors tomorrow.
Ravensworth Homes wants to create the development on the Ashton Building site, in Anthony Street, Stanley.
Derwentside District Council's development control committee is meeting in Consett to discuss the proposal that would provide semi-detached and terrace housing.
Neighbours have been consulted and two letters of objection have been received.
One protestor said: "Twenty-five homes could mean 50 more cars and the entrance road to Anthony Street is already overloaded with cars, with people who park there for the garage, the glass shop and the wallpaper shop.
"Even BT vans park there.
"This occurs on a daily basis on either side of the road and the extra cars would be sure to cause even more congestion than is already the case."
Princpal planning officer Fiona Clarkeis advising the planning committee to support the application.
