PEOPLE can help raise cash for people with terminal illnesses by donating old Christmas cards to a New Year appeal.
The Manor West Centre, in Hartlepool, is appealing for residents to hand over the cards to raise cash for Hartlepool and District Hospice.
Chairman John Reid said: "We collect the cards and then we take them to the hospice shop and they recycle them. So, we are making money for the hospice and also saving the environment by recycling."
The centre, in Brierton Lane, also collects stamps, printer cartridges and mobile phones to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Anyone wishing to donate any of the above items can drop them in at the centre when it re-opens after January 9.
