A MAN accused of using his brother's identity in an attempt to evade arrest faced a total of 12 charges when he appeared in court yesterday.
Magistrates in Harrogate sent Ali Reza Bakhtiary-Nejad, 21, for trial at York Crown Court and bailed him to make an initial appearance there on Monday.
Mr Bakhtiary-Nejad, who has to remain at his present address in Bramham Drive, Harrogate, and report to the town's police station three times a week, is accused of perverting the course of justice by using his brother's personal details on numerous occasions between May 3 and June 10, last year, to avoid prosecution for driving while disqualified.
He also faces three counts of defying a driving ban and three of not having insurance.
Two further charges accuse Mr Bakhtiary-Nejad of obstructing police in the execution of their duty and he also faces an allegation of fraudulent use of a vehicle tax disc.
Another charge claims he obtained £212 by deception by falsely representing during an Internet sale that he owned a laptop computer and a 12th count accuses him of the theft of £285.
