Internet pranksters have put the Premier League's worst football club up for sale on internet auction site ebay.
By Wednesday morning, bottom-of-the-table Sunderland had attracted bids for more than £2.5 million, but with more than eight days left, the final total is sure be higher.
Bidding in the first few hours of the sale was ferocious with over 30 offers tabled.
The Black Cats are languishing 13 points from safety in the Premiership with just six points, and one win, from their 20 matches.
Andrew Fury, from the unofficial Sunderland fanzine 'A Love Supreme' admitted that this is just a case of the fans frustrations boiling over.
He added: "It would be nice for a Russian billionaire to come along. The fans have been amazing this year considering we've only won one game.
"It's typical irony from football fans, if they took it too seriously they'd throw themselves off the Wear bridge."
The seller, from Sunderland, has stated the sale includes 'the 48,000 seater Stadium of Light, based in the heart of Wearside; the most loyal fans in the country and the worst record in the Premiership ever.'
The auction also says: 'The fans are preferably seeking a Russian oil tycoon, but will settle for anyone who is willing to pump around £200 Million into the club.
'Please note, only offers in the region of 100 Million will be considered!'
Potential bidders have also left questions for the seller, including one which asks: "Can you guarantee anonymity after purchase? I'm not sure I'd want anyone to know about this."
