BOSSES of the Tyne and Wear Metro railway system hope to attract more passengers with a mixture of frozen and reduced ticket prices.
A review of fares has led to the price of an all-zone annual ticket coming down by 27 per cent, from £550 to £399 - offering travel all over the system for little more than £1 a day.
The price of a one-week Metro Saver pass is coming down by 21 per cent and its four-week equivalent will be down by 20 per cent.
The one-zone single fare is being frozen, so people can still travel in any Metro zone for £1.30.
The cost of one-zone returns is also unchanged, but purchasers will be able to use that ticket as many times as they like within that zone.
The Metro Hopper ticket - the logo is of a frog - comes in today and will offer unlimited travel in one zone on one day for only £2 or £1.60 during off-peak periods.
