A COUNCIL is planning to improve safety in a town centre by installing two closed-circuit television cameras.
An application has been submitted to Sedgefield Borough Council for the installation of two systems in Spennymoor.
The cameras would both be erected on 10m high columns, with one at the rear of the Bishop's Close health centre, near the Cheapside war memorial, and the other at the junction of Armoury Street and King Street.
The council has recommended that the application be approved, subject to work being carried out within three years of permission being granted. Councillors will meet to make a decision on Friday, at 10am, at the council chamber, council offices in Spennymoor.
