MORE older people need to be encouraged to get involved in the social economy of the county, a study has recommended.
The Regional Forum on Ageing says its research has found that older people as volunteers are worth more than £24m to the Yorkshire and Humber region.
County Councillor Shelagh Marshall said further investigation is to be carried out into ways of increasing the number of people aged over 50 in the social economy of North Yorkshire.
