A course is to be launched to help teachers recognise signs of dyslexia among their pupils and show them ways of dealing with the problem.
It is being organised by Leap, a teaching group in Barnard Castle, which has a good success rate in showing adults how to cope with dyslexia.
The course is being designed to enable teachers, classroom assistants, parents and anyone else involved to notice evidence of dyslexia at an early stage, and to give the support needed.
A Leap spokesman said yesterday that it will explore specific areas of difficulty, develop new strategies and deal with the use of new technology.
Anyone seeking more information or wishing to enrol is asked to call at the Leap Skills for Life Centre at 23 Market Place, Barnard Castle, or ring (01833) 690281
