NORTH-EAST football stars helped the medicine go down at two hospitals yesterday.
Middlesbrough players Gareth Southgate, Mark Schwarzer, Yakubu, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Gaizka Mendieta, Ugo Ehiogu, Emanuel Pogatetz and Mark Viduka were among the stars joining club mascot Roary the Lion to give out selection boxes and small toys around children's wards on Teesside.
The gifts were donated by big-hearted Boro supporters as part of Roary's Christmas Appeal.
And yesterday Premership players visited Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital, Stockton's University Hospital of North Tees and the Butterwick Children's Hospice, in Stockton.
Club captain Gareth Southgate said: "It's hard enough for children to spend time in hospital at any time of the year, but it's very tough on them at Christmas. Hopefully, our visit and the gifts will cheer them up."
