A WAVE of grants has been handed out by County Durham Environmental Trust's (CDENT).
Funding of £120,000 from CDENT under the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme has been granted to seven projects.
The South-West Durham Heritage corridor has received £50,000 to create a multi-use trail from Barnard Castle to West Auckland.
Durham County Council and Durham Wildlife Trust receive £25,000 for the Bonner's plantation project near Consett, which protects the small pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly.
Groundwork West Durham has received £20,000 for clearing the beck and redundant outfalls to create a path along Beechburn Beck in Crook.
The tourist information centre at Barnard Castle has benefited from £10,000.
The Mid Teesdale Project Partnership, which is improving Mickleton play area in Teesdale, has received £1,250, and £1,500 has been given to St Bede's Church Wildlife Garden at Newton Hall.
