A RURAL post office in a North Yorkshire village is to close for a temporary period from Thursday, December 29.
The post office at Bishop Monkton, on St John's Road, is to shut following the expiry of a temporary contract.
Rural transfer advisor Bill Earnshaw said: "We apologise to customers for the inconvenience this temporary closure will undoubtedly cause."
However, he added: "We are committed to maintaining a presence in rural communities and will be doing all we can to open a new branch as soon as possible.
"Anyone interested in the vacancy should contact our agency recruitment section on 0845 601 6260."
Once the office closes, people will be advised to use the post office at Burton, on Copgrove Road, or in Ripon, in Finkle Street, or any other branch of their choice.
