POLICE temporarily closed a pub and takeaway after separate outbreaks of disorder at the weekend.
The Colonel Prior pub, in Doxford Park, and the Bravo Pizza takeaway, in Stockton Road, both Sunderland, were shut by police for 24 hours after fighting.
Police were called to the pub at about 11.45pm on Saturday, where customers were allegedly fighting using pool cues.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with assaulting an officer. The pub was closed under the terms of the Licensing Act to prevent more disorder.
About five hours later, police moved in to shut the takeaway because of disorder there. A 24-year-old man was charged with being drunk and disorderly.
Both men will appear before magistrates in the new year.
